Fancy a trip to “remote” Australia? If you’ve watched any reality TV recently…not that I’m owning up to anything….then you know all about Maryborough 😉
Besides beautiful heritage buildings they are also well known for ‘Gatakers Artspace’ located in the city centre it is home to group of active and diverse printmakers. They hold workshops throughout the year.
Two upcoming workshops include:
‘SCREENPRINTING with Brisbane artist Nancy Brown:

Nancy Brown is a Brisbane-based visual artist working in printmaking, ceramic, mosaic, metal and textile printing. Her background is in printmaking and painting. Artwork has taken her on adventures across Australia to remote communities, facilitating projects, creating decor and running workshops at festivals, schools, art in education programs and creative groups within the communities: Weipa, Birdsville and Normanton, the Pilbara and many places in between. Nancy makes banners and flags and hand printed fabrics, creates with mosaics, metal, ceramics and paint murals. Nancy enjoys seeing designs being created and it delights me to share the magic of printing pictures and patterns.

Based in Pambula South NSW, Lorna’s contemporary works are inspired by the landscape.
Lorna conducted a 5-day workshop in July 2016, where she introduced participants to the magic of creating their own brushes from found materials and using them for mark-making and drawing. This year, there will be two workshops:
1. Mark-making with hand-made brushes – make your own personal “brushes”
June 25th & 26th
Cost: $150 (some materials supplied)
2. Master Class (3 days)
Artists who participated in 2016 workshop, and those who have done the 2017 2-day workshop, will find this a stimulating and challenging workshop that builds on the previous workshops. You must have experienced the 2016 workshop, or the 2-day workshop outlined above.

3. Pop-Up Exhibition July 1st
Participants will be able to exhibit their works in a Pop-Up exhibition on Saturday July 1st (Mary Poppins Festival).
