The Saturday Printmakers rang its first play day for 2017. With our membership numbers increasing significantly over the past year, several ‘beginner level’ play days have been scheduled throughout the year to introduce new members to various printmaking methods. As well as to build their overall confidence in pursuing this area of interest and in using the press post induction.
Our first play day , Lino Printing, was run by Jo & Ute with a good turn-out of six new members participating on the day (braving a hot 39 degree day!). The session provided an overview of the medium and a demonstration of the method of transferring a design, carving, and printing. As well as how to set up an efficient ‘inking-up’ area and how to appropriately clean a block (i.e. printing matrix).
The group plans to run a future, ‘Lino Printing’ play day which teaches new members about viscosity printing and/or how to produce reduction prints.
PS- We also love our food as you can see below. Though there was a request for ‘more beer, less cupcakes’ next time. We do have a sweet tooth….
